Sometimes people are apprehensive about having their photo taken.  We are often worried about how we look, especially if it may be documented in a photograph. Too often, however, we become our own worst enemy.  It’s easy for us to pick apart the things we think are flaws, while missing the memory of the fun times we shared.  Julia and I have a million photos of our kids around the house, but we make an extra effort to make sure that we get into those photos as well.  We find that our kids enjoy the photos even more when she and I are also a part of the action.  Last week we visited Torrey Pines in La Jolla and made some new friends. They put aside their nerves for a little while to let us photograph them together as a family. These people are beautiful both inside and out!

I’m working on getting more photos printed for the house and office. This photo was shot when we were down in Coronado a few weeks ago.  Which do you prefer.. color or BW.  Let me know in the comments below…

Chula Vista Photographers kid again

Also… we have only a few spaces left for our May 14th photo workshop.  Contact us right away if you are interested.

After spending a week with us Hannah was probably a little tired of us sticking a big camera in her face, but she let Julia take  her to the park for more photos.  These were shot at Montevalle in Chula Vista as the sun set behind the trees.  We love this location because it has such a wide variety of scenes within a short walk.  If you missed part 1 or part 2 of Hannah’s senior photos, make sure to check them out.

High School Senior Photo

Back to the beach for one last time before heading home.  She did great out on the surfboard for her first time.

We miss you Hannah.  Come back and visit again soon!!

Here’s part 2 of Hannah’s photo shoot. If you missed part one, check it out here. Some of these were taken at the South Bay Salt Works factory.  It’s actually a cool photo shoot location.

August 03, 2010

I have to admit that I walked into this session with mixed emotions.  I always get a little nervous/ excited before a shoot, but taking family photos for another photographer can turn the nervous setting up a few notches.  On the other hand, Arlene is a good friend and her family is as easy going as you will find.  As a photographer, I have a gazillion  (yep…I counted) photos of our kids on my computer and the walls in our home.  But don’t have nearly enough photos of us together as a family.  Arlene was feeling the same thing and we set up the session for a morning before her kids went back to school.  I have often heard her talk about her unconditional love for her boys. Seeing her surrounded by her family, it is clear how much fun they have together.  We met at the pier in Pacific Beach and walked through an alley before making our way down to the beach.  We sat by the pier, played in the sand, and chased a few birds.  Thanks for a fun time Gapusan family!

These two are awesome together.
